Science News for Kids
Launched by Society for Science & the Public in 2003, Science News for Kids is an interactive,
educational Web site devoted to providing science news to children
ages 9 to 14. Content is offered in a captivating and informative
manner to more than 6,000 unique visitors daily and nearly 2 million
visitors annually.
Society for Science & the Public is honored to have received the funding necessary
to launch and continue providing Science News for Kids
through generous grants from several corporations and foundations.
Specifically, in 2006, Society for Science & the Public would like
to recognize and thank the following for their generous support
of Science News for Kids:
In addition, generous support in past years has come
from the American Honda Foundation, the Dow Chemical Company, and
E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company.
As we move into 2008, Society for Science & the Public seeks funding support from
interested sponsors for numerous initiatives. They include:
- Providing more complete and effective support for middle school
teachers as they use Science News for Kids content in
their classrooms.
- Providing enhanced multimedia technology and support to enable
Science News for Kids to more effectively and attractively
convey information to kids.
- Providing monitored chat capabilities to encourage greater interactivity
among young people about specific articles and interactive engagement
with scientists responding to student observations, questions,
and comments.
